#1) Pacers Unlimited Forum Guidelines

Postby Pig Nash » Mon Aug 16, 2010 12:21 am

Here are some general guidelines for Pacers Unlimited. We're still getting our feet under us so these are subject to change but this is what we're operating under right now.

-We give everyone a chance, all boards (other than the administration board) are open to all members. There is a NSFW forum that is hidden, but all you must do to access it is a. be over 18, b. have 20 posts in the other areas, and c. ask.

-However we will not tolerate:
spamming - This can mean any number of things. Linking to your site without asking (we will almost always say yes), signing up just to promote something of yours without adding to the experience here, breaking game rules, etc.
flaming - inflammatory posts towards other members of the forum. If you have a problem, see the admins, don't go vigilante on the other poster. Also no constant berating of other members. Basically treat other with respect. We expect and even encourage some good natured ribbing, and some games require some fibbing but don't be a jerk.
hatespeech - it's flaming but it deserves it's own category. Don't use racial slurs. Don't be sexist, agist, religion-ist, basically anything with an -ist. If you use one w/o knowing it's offensive to someone, delete/edit it and apologize, and we'll move on. Otherwise we have an issue.

-In regards to cursing, there is a filter that you can turn on and off. You can curse but don't just say "f***" in every thread because it's fun. And keep it off the main forum. I'm sure we'll be sharing some of the stuff we talk about on facebook/twitter/etc. and we (or at least I) have family there that wouldn't want to see that. There is a difference between cursing in the counting thread, and say someone's recent vacation and travel pictures. Also, don't use a curse word in your username.

-Avatars are set at 175 (width) by 250 (height). No animated gifs. Also no NSFW avatars. You can turn off avatars but it's easier to see who posted if you can just glance at a picture you know instead of looking for a name.

-One link per signature. No images in the signature and try to keep it under 3 lines of text. We want to keep the forum looking clean, and big shiny signatures detract from that. If you must, you can put it in a spoiler tag (like this but without the * [spoiler*][/spoiler*]) so that people can not see it without having to turn signatures off.

-If you want to post an article, post a link to it, the original source of it (like the NY Times or About.com or wherever it's from) and the author, like so:

http://www.indystar.com/article/2010081 ... mits-to-IU
Indy Star
Kyle Neddenriep

-We're always looking for ways to make this site better. If there is something you'd like to share, please go to the Feedback forum and let us know!

Here's the admins:

Venice (or LA)
Samsa (or sweabs or balloon)
Trader Joe (Or TJ or just Joe)
CGG (or Chris)
N8R (or nothing!)
Pig Nash (or Piggy or Nash or Matt)

Have fun!
